F-32 Ford Roadster - Auto Shows

It’s easy to gloss over the many hot rods at SEMA, especially when one is an expected ’32 Ford. It’s the little things about this one, the “F-32,” built by Barry White’s Street Rod Repair Company, that made it special enough to win the 2007 Goodguys Street Rod of the Year. All the bolt heads line up, even under the car. The wheels may look like Halibrands, but they’re one-off billet designs. The body is hand-formed aluminum.

The simple presentation of 427 cubic inches of hand-built aluminum Windsor belies its formidable grunt. An Italian exotic should be so lucky as to be dressed with an interior as meticulously trimmed. The same Italian leather that is used in the interior acts as tie-rod boots. A bit over the top? Perhaps, but it’s what pushes this car toward more complicated discussions of craft and art.

Review of Autocare Centre, Morley, Leeds

By Jamie6666 from Wigan on 3rd Feb 2007

I own a Ford Mondeo and my ABS light had come on my dash - I took my car into another garage where they fitted a new sensor to my front wheel. All was OK for about 60 miles then the light came back on. I took the car back and was told it needed another sensor on my other front wheel. When I picked up my car I was told that the ABS module had actually gone at a cost of £500.29 - I had already paid out £211.23 for two new wheel sensors and could not afford anything else until I got paid two weeks later. I was telling my son in law about my problem and he recommended that I let Autocare have a look. My son in law rang them on my behalf and booked in my car.

When I took my car in they rang me to say that my nearside wheel bearing was the problem - I thought what’s a wheel bearing got to do with my ABS light, I inform them that I had had my car in somewhere else and was told that the fault was the ABS module. They replied rubbish and had the other garage fitted two new wheel sensors, when I replied yes they could not believe it. They went on to say OK I know your son in law, we will fit a new wheel bearing, you can take away your car without paying and if you are not happy you don’t have to pay the bill.

I let them do the wheel bearing as what had I to loose. After two weeks I went back to pay them and the problem was solved. What a great garage to deal with - I cannot praise them enough. I know where I am going in the future for my repairs.
